Bringing Winter Home, Room by Room
Share
You don't have to redo the whole house to make it feel like the season turned. A few considered swaps, placed where you actually spend your time, do more than a garland on every surface ever could.
Start with the room you gather in. The wall above the sofa or the mantel is the one everyone's eyes land on, so it's worth giving over to something seasonal. A snowy landscape or a quiet winter scene sets the tone for the whole space without a single string of lights.
Move to the bedroom next, and think soft rather than festive. This is where textiles earn their keep. Swapping your everyday pillow covers for something warmer in tone, a deeper cocoa or a muted evergreen, changes the feel of the room the moment you walk in. Covers are an easy seasonal change too, since you keep the inserts and just store the covers flat when the season passes.
Then the entryway, the spot you walk through a dozen times a day and rarely decorate on purpose. One winter piece by the door greets you and anyone you let in. It's a small thing that makes the whole house feel tended.
The goal was never a house that looks like a store display. It's a house that feels like the season settled in gently and decided to stay a while.
